Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a one hour session of talk therapy, where you will have an opportunity to express your concerns, reflect on your current state of mind, and develop solutions to move forward towards your preferred way of being. Individual therapy can be recommended in addition or following a medical therapy or in-patient treatment. I do not prescribe medications. However, I will be able to refer you to a medical provider (psychiatrist) or collaborate with your medical provider for a more effective treatment. Any contacts with another provider will be done only after you will review and sign a consent for the authorization of such contact. The client’s confidentiality is one of my priorities.

couple

therapy

Couple therapy is an opportunity to work through misunderstandings, miscommunications, or some specific challenges/transitions in your life such as a new born baby, a chronic illness of one of the partners, or a case of infidelity. I also work with multicultural couples or couples who just came to the United States and are still adjusting to their new lives.

I recommend both partners to attend the session together from the start for a better result. I will assess the situation and might recommend additional individual therapy if required.

Therapy with children

I work with children and their parents to address such issues as misbehavior at home or at school, adjustment to such life transitions as born of a new sibling, parental divorce or remarriage, and adjustment to a new country.

I usually see the benefits of talk therapy with children starting at 4 years old. However, I will be able to determine the success of an intervention only after meeting with a child to assess the mastery of the language and the maturity level.

My sessions with children usually do not look like a typical adult session, as I incorporate play therapy techniques.  I also often invite parents to participate in the sessions.

Please note that a parental consent of both parents is required to initiate a session.

Court ordered therapy

I also work with situations when a completion of a certain number of session is required by a court order. I have experience working with clients facing different forms of addiction, but the majority of my work is completed with highly conflictual couples prior, during, or after a divorce procedure. The client is required to present the court order. An authorization for the release of information to the case manager might be required for me to coordinate the treatment.

I also provide assistance if supervised visitations are ordered by the court.
